June 6, 2016
The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare will hold a daylong thought leadership symposium in Boston on June 7 entitled 10K/Day: Medicare's Future as 10,000 Americans Turn 65 Every Day. This symposium will explore the current state of Medicare and Medicaid at their 50-year marks. Experts in the fields of health care, advocacy, economics and aging will discuss the future challenges facing an ever-growing beneficiary population and explore an array of opportunities to meet the needs of the aged and the aging.
Generous funding from major sponsors Tufts Health Plan Foundation and Blue Cross, Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation underscores the importance of this policy forum. Additional sponsors include the National Association for Homecare and Hospice, Better Medicare Alliance, paradyzs + pmdigital, The Data Center, RRDonnelly, Infogroup and Merkle.
Among the topics panelists will address are: the challenges Medicare faces due to health care inflation and the rapidly growing 65+ population, transitioning Medicare to reward value by improving care and lowering costs, the move from volume-based payments in traditional (fee-for-service) Medicare to alternative payment models and how health care issues, especially Medicare and Medicaid, will factor into the 2016 elections.
