The National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare PAC, one of the nation’s premiere organizations advocating for older adults, is endorsing Senator Jon Ossoff for reelection. Senator Ossoff understands that affordability is the most pressing issue facing Georgians, and that protecting and enhancing Social Security and Medicare is essential in solving the Republicans’ cost-of-living crisis. He has built a record of delivering for older Georgians and their families, and in the years to come his vote will be critical in lowering health care costs and protecting Social Security.

“In the Senate, I have helped pass laws that strengthen Social Security benefits and empower Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for Georgia’s seniors. I am honored to receive the endorsement of NCPSSM-PAC and together we will continue to defend Social Security and Medicare benefits.”  – Senator Jon Ossoff

The National Committee supported Senator Ossoff in his first Senate campaign in 2020, when the nation was in the middle of a once-in-a-century health crisis. Senator Ossoff’s voice and vote helped steer Georgia through that crisis. Thanks to his vote, Medicare prescription drug costs were lowered, Social Security benefits were expanded to public service workers, and insulin costs were capped at $35 a month. These votes earned Senator Ossoff a 100% voting record on the National Committee’s Congressional Scorecard.

The Senate soon will have to address the coming shortfall in Social Security’s trust funds, projected to occur in the early 2030s. To prevent a projected 20% reduction in benefits, we need Jon Ossoff’s vote in the Senate to ensure that Social Security is strengthened – not cut – and that seniors do not bear the brunt of restoring the system to financial health. Georgians need a Senator that they can trust not to cut their earned benefits. Senator Jon Ossoff is the only candidate in this race who has earned that trust.  – Max Richtman, National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare-PAC Board
