The National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare PAC, one of the nation’s premier political organizations advocating for older adults, today endorses Rebecca Bennett for Congress. Rebecca Bennett is a Navy helicopter pilot and healthcare leader, and seniors in NJ-07 will need her leadership to undo the disastrous attacks that they have faced this Congress.
With incumbent Tom Kean’s help, the Big, Ugly Bill cut nearly a trillion dollars from Medicaid. Seniors and their families in NJ-07 will suffer as hospitals, nursing homes, and the health care industry – critical in New Jersey – take a devastating hit. And the hits to seniors will keep coming unless we elect Rebecca Bennett and a pro-senior majority. Speaker Mike Johnson says he has a plan to “adjust” Social Security next year – but hasn’t disclosed what that plan is.
This week we learned that Elon Musk himself will be investing in Tom Kean’s campaign through his super PAC. It’s not surprising. Tom Kean did nothing when Elon Musk and his DOGE acolytes ravaged the Social Security Administration, stealing Americans’ data and disrupting the agency’s ability to function. Musk has even called Social Security “the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time.” With the record he built and backers like this, Tom Kean cannot be trusted to protect Social Security.
“Americans pay into Social Security and Medicare for the entirety of our working lives — we should be guaranteed the retirement benefits that we are owed. While Tom Kean Jr. cozies up to groups trying to privatize these programs and gives tax handouts to billionaires, I am going to fight to get our deficit under control and invest in Social Security and Medicare. I am proud to earn the endorsement of NCPSSM, and will work alongside advocates on my campaign and in Congress to ensure we’re protecting Social Security and Medicare trust funds before they become depleted in the early 2030’s,” said Rebecca Bennett.
Over 157,000 people in the NJ-07 receive Social Security benefits, and it puts over $4.5 billion into the economy each year. If Congress doesn’t act, in a few short years, the average New Jerseyan on Social Security will see their monthly benefits automatically cut by $554. After the attacks on seniors that this current Congress has engaged in, NJ-07 needs a representative who they can trust to protect their earned benefits. Rebecca Bennett will be that representative.
