The National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare PAC, one of the nation’s premiere political organizations advocating for older adults, today is endorsing Lindsay James to represent Iowa’s 2nd district in the U.S. House. The battle for the House runs through Iowa, and sending Lindsay James to Congress is critical in electing a pro-senior majority.

This Congress has been a disaster for seniors. Republicans stood by as Elon Musk, who has called Social Security a “Ponzi scheme,” let DOGE ravage the Social Security Administration and steal Americans’ personal data. Congress passed the Big, Ugly Bill which cut a trillion dollars from Medicaid, further devastating rural hospitals. Speaker Mike Johnson says Republicans have a plan to “adjust” Social Security in the next Congress — but hasn’t disclosed what that plan is.

Over 190,000 people in IA-02 receive Social Security benefits. If Congress doesn’t act, in a few short years the average Iowan on Social Security will see their monthly benefits automatically cut by more than $500.  After the attacks on seniors that this current Congress has engaged in, older Iowans need a representative who they can trust to protect their earned benefits.

Lindsay James will be that representative. In Congress she will be a voice for seniors and their families. She will fight to lower health care costs and protect Social Security from cuts.

Lindsay James has earned the trust of older Americans, and I look forward to working with her next Congress on a pro-senior agenda. – Max Richtman, National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare-PAC Board
