The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM), one of the largest senior advocacy organizations in the country and with more than 215,000 members in Florida, will  join Florida allies concerned by proposed cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid on January 26th for a demonstration outside of the GOP Presidential debate. A huge mobile billboard will be displaying the “Hands Off – No Cuts to Social Security and Medicare” message to Floridians throughout the day before arriving at the UNF campus for the demonstration. The billboard has traveled across the nation reminding political candidates that the majority of Americans reject proposals cutting Social Security and Medicare benefits to balance the budget.  The billboard will travel through Florida leading up to the state’s primary on the January 31st .

A recent bipartisan national showed opposition to cutting Social Security & Medicare is strong across party lines with 82% of Democrats, 73% of Independents and 58% of Republicans against cuts to reduce the deficit. The National Committee’s “Hands Off – No Cuts” grassroots campaign has mobilized Americans nationwide and the mobile billboards will travel across the country during the 2012 elections to remind incumbents and candidates that Americans reject proposals that would cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits to millions of middle-class and poor Americans.
