The National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare PAC, one of the nation’s premier organizations advocating for older adults, is proud to endorse former North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper for United States Senate. Gov. Cooper understands that affordability is the most pressing issue facing North Carolinians, and that protecting and enhancing Social Security and Medicare is essential to mitigate the Republicans’ cost-of-living crisis.
Cooper’s record of public service in North Carolina speaks for itself. During his time as governor, he was a proven fighter for families, workers, and seniors. He brought both parties together to expand Medicaid. In the U.S. Senate, his vote will be critical in lowering health care costs and protecting Social Security.
The Senate soon will have to address the coming shortfall in Social Security’s trust funds, projected to occur in the early 2030s. To prevent an automatic 20% reduction in benefits, we need Roy Cooper’s vote in the Senate. Together, we must ensure that Social Security is strengthened – not cut – and that seniors do not bear the brunt of restoring the system to financial health. Seniors need someone they can trust to fight for their earned benefits. Roy Cooper is the only candidate in this race who has earned that trust. – Max Richtman, National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare-PAC Board
