United States House of Representative
Washington, DC  20515

Dear Representative:

On behalf of the millions of members and supporters of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, I urge you to vote against H.R. 2009, the “Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act,” which would prohibit the IRS from implementing or enforcing any provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

An important goal of the Affordable Care Act is to provide health insurance coverage and access to care to millions of Americans who lack this protection today.  The ACA provides subsidies in the form of tax credits to help make health insurance affordable for individuals and their families; and it provides assistance, again through tax credits, to help small businesses provide insurance to millions of middle-class American families.  If the IRS were prohibited from making and enforcing rules regarding tax credits for individuals purchasing insurance through the exchanges or tax credits for small businesses providing health insurance to their employees, millions of Americans would be denied access to affordable health care.

We support the Affordable Care Act, and urge you to vote against H.R. 2009, which would derail implementation of this important law.  Millions of Americans are counting on the ACA to provide the affordable health coverage they need as soon possible.

Sincerely,

Max Richtman
