Unfortunately, well-publicized misinformation campaigns about reform efforts are being circulated in the news and at public forums. This has led many older American's to believe health care reform will destroy Medicare when, in fact, nothing could be further from the truth. Without health care reform, Medicare will continue to suffer from skyrocketing costs associated with general health care inflation, until neither seniors nor the government will be able to afford the program. This inevitably will lead to unprecedented cuts in Medicare-cuts that unlike current health care reform proposals-will directly target seniors' benefits. To counter the scare-tactics aimed at seniors, the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare has mobilized a Truth Squad to give seniors the facts about how health care reform will benefit Medicare beneficiaries.
