    NEWS RELEASE

Washington DC Advocacy Group's 5-Figure Radio Campaign Broadcasts Message to Senators Kerry and Brown

Americans are united against cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid

A new round of radio ads , part of the "Hands Off-No Cuts Campaign" sponsored by the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, begins airing this week on four Massachusetts radio stations.

"This ad campaign reminds key members of the Senate, like Super Committee member Senator John Kerry and Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown that Americans do not support trading away Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid's benefits in another version of 'Let's Make a Deal' Washington-style. Republican, Democratic and Independent voters do not want Congress to balance the budget by cutting Medicare or Social Security; programs they've paid into their entire working lives that millions are increasingly dependent on in this economy. They also know targeting middle-class Americans, who've already borne the burden of an economic collapse they didn't create, is not shared sacrifice by any definition. We hope Senators Kerry and Brown will keep that in mind as they cast critical votes impacting millions of hard-working Americans." Max Richtman, President/ CEO

This five-figure Massachusetts radio ad buy is just one part of the National Committee's multi million-dollar "Hands Off -No Cuts Campaign". The National Committee continues to organize and inform Americans about the Congressional Deficit Super Committee and proposals to cut middle-class benefits . Other elements of the "Hands Off-No Cuts" campaign include:

    • Grassroots Campaign . Activists are holding rallies and meetings at Congressional District offices, community centers and other public venues. Massachusetts grassroots volunteers are meeting with their congressional members one-on-one reminding them that cutting benefits to middle-class Americans is not fiscal responsibility.  Our activists have also rallied against Massachusetts Hospital Association's support of raising the Medicare eligibility age.
    • Mobile Billboards . The National Committee's mobile billboards have been rolling throughout Washington, D. C. promoting the No Cuts message over every mile of official Washington - from Capitol Hill to the White House and beyond - with a high visibility message that can't be ignored.
    • Phone Calls . Call-in campaigns to Congress have already generated more than 80,000 calls to Member's offices and will continue to flood the Capitol this month.
    • Online Mobilization.  Activists in our Facebook and Twitter communities continue to reach out to their Congressional Members online and will participate in a weeklong email campaign as part of our "Hands Off Spooktacular" Congressional letter writing mobilization during the week before Halloween.
