They have characterized expenditures for these critical programs as representing an "entitlement crisis" or a "long-term fiscal crisis". Nothing could be further from the truth. The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare will convene a panel of respected policy experts to brief Congressional staff and interested press on entitlement commission proposals and the vital roles Social Security and Medicare play during this current economic crisis.
