Senate Privatizers Plan Social Security Surprise
NCPSSM Members mobilized to fight this last-gasp attempt to force
Social Security Private Accounts on American citizens

The Senate leadership may be clearing the way for floor debate on Social Security privatization legislation as soon as today.

Clearly, Senate leaders are not reading their mail, listening to constituents at town hall meetings or paying any heed to the public's strong opposition to Social Security private accounts.  Americans know this legislation is nothing more than another version of the same private accounts plan they've already rejected. Voters won't watch quietly if Congress attempts a last minute resuscitation of legislation that should have been pronounced dead months ago.”
    -- Barbara B. Kennelly, President/CEO

Senators Jim DeMint and Rick Santorum have been urging Senate leadership to bring their Social Security bills straight to the Senate floor, without committee action.   That debate could come as soon as today.

The National Committee is delivering a letter to Senators today urging them to reject Social Security private accounts once and for all.  NCPSSM grassroots volunteers are also calling Senate offices and sending emails to demand that Congress heed their constituents' strong opposition to the privatization of Social Security.
