Digital Media Manager

Reports To: Director of Communications

Position Summary:

Manages NCPSSM social media engagement to raise NCPSSM’s organizational profile and broaden support for NCPSSM positions. Strategic planner with the ability to communicate to distinct audiences across multiple social media platforms. Handles dissemination of NCPSSM products in appropriate platforms.  Actively participates in COMM team creative operation including assistance with design and implementation of education and advocacy projects.  Independently or in collaboration with other NCPSSM staff, develops branded products such as daily news letter, FB LIVE broadcasts, messaging graphics, and provides layout and design assistance for educational and promotional products.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Manage social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Flickr, Tumblr, Wakelet, Instagram, Bitly, and others to drive engagement with NCPSSM. Invest in new social media platforms as they arise.
    • Deploy Facebook Live, Twitter Live, and other “built into” software.
    • Monitor daily commenting activity and post responses/content. Address spam and troll issues.
    • Stay up to date on latest trends, technology and best practices
    • Analyze metrics to determine impact and reach
    • Promote NCPSSM editorial and policy research material, petition drives and campaigns
  • Coordinate outreach to other bloggers, journalists, allied groups, writers and columnists via Twitter.
    • Engage with influencers in the same field by using Meltwater for research.
    • Assist with the creation and updating of influencer lists for the department.
  • Use Mailchimp to create a Newsletter for weekday distribution.
    • Utilize Meltwater, Google News Alerts, Tweet Deck, etc.) to compile relevant articles for each issue.
  • Develop and update timeline projects for main website and micro-pages.
  • Create graphics and infographics.
  • Track news related to organization’s issues and create messaging from it.
    • Monitor on-line community activity for adherence to rules of engagement. Create promotional ads and make sure they align with rules and guidelines. Plan for ad targeting based on audience demographics.
  • Create promotions (earned and paid) to build on-line communities and subscriber lists.
  • Generate a monthly report tracking user activity across digital platforms.
  • Provide training and best practices assistance to NCPSSM staff.

Other Duties:

  • Attends Capitol Hill, rallies, and community or press-related events as needed
  • Digital photography and using iPhone for video and broadcast purposes.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Supervision:

This position has no direct reports

Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Political Science or relevant field is desired. Minimum of five years experience in public relations, communications or other relevant position; minimum of four years experience working with digital media; skilled in the creation and deployment of social media content, including text, photo and graphics; advocacy or political campaign experience a plus. Advanced experience Hootsuite and Wirecast (or other studio software.) Working knowledge of videography and related equipment.  Knowledgeable about digital media security issues and maintaining integrity of corporate accounts and data. Recent experience with graphic software; i.e. Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, and PiktoChart.

Certification, Licensing, and Skills:

Excellent written and oral communication skills required; excellent copyediting and proofreading skills; experience/knowledge of federal programs affecting older Americans is desired; strong organizational skills; ability to think strategically and creatively, ability to work well under aggressive deadlines; computer literacy on MAC/PC and MS Office experience is required.

Advanced knowledge of social media applications on either iOS or android. Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign experience. Video software familiarity is a plus.

Marketing Assistant

Reports To: Marketing Manager

Position Summary: Assists in the daily implementation of the organization’s marketing programs and activities.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Implements internal copy review; consolidates edits and returns to agency by deadline
  • Aids in the review and return of artwork (final and proof) to agency
  • Aids in the review and testing of emails, web pages, and other online efforts
  • Reviews and approves job descriptions sent by the agency on mailings
  • Interacts with National Committee’s marketing agencies, list broker, list manager, and other vendors as needed
  • Participates in internal team and agency meetings
  • Maintains Marketing’s Project File and Sample Library
  • Routes mail sample packets to staff
  • Assists with reporting and analysis
  • Assists with in-house fulfillment (such as welcome letters to new sustainers)
  • Assists with developing collateral pieces for promotional purposes as needed
  • Assists as needed with weekly email hygiene processing and thank you robocalls

Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, statistics or relevant field or equivalent experience and at least three years of relevant experience in advertising, media or direct marketing is required.

Minimum Certification, Licensing, and Skills:

Ability to work independently and use good judgment; good oral and written communication skills; an intermediate level of experience with personal computers and database software is required. Proficient with Office 2010 and Adobe required. A good knowledge and understanding of software and database systems used in the marketing program also required.
