Mike Prucker Named Chief Operations Officer for National Seniors Advocacy Group

Max Richtman, President and CEO of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, has announced that Mike Prucker, former Palmetto Group lobbyist and long-time Capitol Hill leadership staffer, is the new Chief Operations Officer for the National Committee.

Mike Prucker’s valued expertise will help lead the National Committee’s experienced staff of policy experts, grassroots leaders, and communicators as we continue to battle against the billion dollar Wall Street and anti-entitlement campaign waged against our nation’s vital safety net programs. The American people understand we don’t have to target the nation’s most vulnerable to reduce our deficit. Mike Prucker worked for a decade with the government affairs firm, the Palmetto group. He came to Palmetto after 23 years of experience in the House of Representatives having worked with the House leadership and on Ways and Means Committee issues. He served as Legislative Director for Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA), the Executive Assistant to the Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus, the Floor Assistant to the Chief Deputy Whip, and before that in the offices of Reps. Barbara Kennelly and William Cotter from Connecticut.

Mike received his B.A. in Government from the University of San Francisco in 1972, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from State University of New York at Binghamton. He began his duties at the National Committee’s COO January 7th.


The National Committee, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization acts in the interests of its membership through advocacy, education, services, grassroots efforts and the leadership of the Board of Directors and professional staff. The work of the National Committee is directed toward developing better-informed citizens and voters.

Advocates Gear Up for Medicare Battle on Capitol Hill

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare participated today in the delivery of over 1,000,000 petition signatures demanding that Congress “keep its hands off of Medicare.” National Committee President and CEO Max Richtman joined Senators Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Democratic Reps.Ted Deutch, Jan Schakowsky, and Tony Cárdenas in presenting the petitions on Capitol Hill this morning.
